Dear St lukes,

I am Abhimanyu a secondary three student from St Gabriels secondary school. On behalf of my (CCA) Scouts, my friends and I have been tasked to help out the elderly in the community. Hence we would love to come down to St Lukes eldercare at Serangoon ave 4. We would love to come down for four separate occasions Dec 1, Dec 4, Dec 5 and Dec 7 spending two hours each time with the elderly 9 am to 11 am preferably, by interacting with them, serving meals, playing simple games with them and performing for them. I am sure that we will contribute meaningfully and help the elderly have a joyous time with us.

yours sincerely Abhimanyu Selvakumar

A total of 4 students would love to come down to help.

Bryan,  Magesh, Ryker and I really did enjoy ourselves serving St Lukes eldercare at serangoon, as it was really an eye opening experience for the four of us. We met many different types of old people that required special needs and special attention. The staff at St lukes were very friendly and thought us how to take note of the different needs of the elderly so that we could serve their needs to our fullest ability. Moreover through our visit we were able to gain insight about the sad lives of many elderly people at the day care. The silver tsunami is real and we as scouts must help Singapore with the problem by helping more elderly folks remain positive and active.

We want to continue our service at St Lukes Eldercare and wish to grow a relationship with them so that scouts from our unit can go down there more often, making friends, establishing and maintaining harmonious relations.

Founders day 2017

What a day it was. Full of excitement and pride. We represented scouts in our school during morning assembly. We had to put on our best behavior and drill performance for the school. This day was so significant to us as it was a day where we remembered our founder and showed appreciation towards his life and journey in scouting. Moreover, it was a time in which we thought our friends who are not scouts, about scouting. Through this day, we as scouts can connect with our scouting roots better and with the rest of the scouts in the world.

SLC 2017

    Scouts Leadership Camp 2017

Day 1
Day 1 started off abruptly, with push-ups due to the inspection. The ventures poured water onto our bags as they asked us to waterproof it. We then continued by carrying our bags to run around the school as we were not ready. Following that, we built our campsites and settled into our dinner. At night we were given a task that we had to carry out for the rest of the camp. We were all given eggs to take care of. That day itself 2 eggs were broken which showed how much we had to buck up. We learnt that night that SLC was no joke and was going to be hell, and we needed to manage our time well and lastly not to repeat our mistakes.

Day 2

Day 2 was a fun filled ,tiring day which was very packed with a lot of activities such as dragon boating and two separate hikes. The hike started off well at the start, however we were then very lost as some of the members in our patrol did not know how to navigate. It was a bit saddening when my group chose to give up as they said that there was no point in continuing the hike. We all took this as a learning opportunity and decided to move on from there. We also taught to never give up.

Day 3

Day 3 was a whole day with lack of sleep. We started of the day with a shocking note which was the ceremony where the scouts were given their appointments. I was given my PL appointment and was thus given a responsibility which meant that I had to be dedicated and mature in my thoughts and actions. We then carried on the day by doing backwoods men and building catapults. We even managed to play a game called capture the flag. The day ended with us getting punished due to everyone not following instructions.

Day 4

Day 4 was very fast and strenuous as we had to take down our flagpole campsite and cleanup all the areas which we had used. The day was the ended by us doing some small reflections and learning the expectations for the coming meetings in scouts. We all then learnt that the camps objective was to create a good standard in our scout unit. In a nutshell, the camp was new and was filled with very little time to rest and take brakes. We learnt and experienced many new things about others and most importantly ourselves.
